Most Ukrainians have not adapted to life abroad and plan to return home.

Most Ukrainians who left because of the war – 64% – have not adapted to life in the countries in which they sought refuge, and many intend to return to Ukraine. The adaptation factor has a clear effect on Ukrainians who intend to return home: It was noted by 55% of respondents. Of those who intend to return to Ukraine, 62% are not yet ready to name the exact date of their return.

Those Ukrainians who work remotely for Ukrainian companies (70%) or are temporarily unemployed (68%) are most eager to return. No less than 60% of respondents feel personal safety abroad, and slightly more (65%) are calm about the safety of their children, and for them, this is a significant factor that prevents them from returning.

Guaranteed stable employment is the main reason for returning for 41%, financial assistance in Ukraine for their return is essential for 36%, and the possibility of obtaining or arranging housing in safe regions of Ukraine noted by 33%. About a quarter of respondents (27%) are ready to return if Ukraine’s air defense is strengthened.
