Marco Rubio: The war has reached a stalemate, and neither side will accomplish its ultimate goal, but the US will continue to support Ukraine.

Neither Ukraine nor Russia will achieve their best-case scenario in ending their conflict; both sides will need to make concessions, said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He added that both parties are paying a steep price for the war and are interested in ending it.

“There will be a lot of hard work ahead. I believe only the US under President Trump can facilitate this, but it will take some time,” Rubio stated.

According tothe new US secretary of state, the US and Western nations made a mistake by leading people to believe that Ukraine would defeat Russia and reclaim the territory it held in 2012 or 2014. Rubio also emphasized that someone will need to foot the bill for Ukraine’s restoration, and the country’s future is at stake.

“Ukraine has been set back a century; its energy system is in ruins. Millions of refugees may never return. From President Trump’s perspective, this war must end,” he remarked.

Moreover, during a discussion with the Italian Foreign Minister, Rubio confirmed that the US will continue its support for Ukraine.
