Macron: Ukraine needs to be provided with the means to survive and the ability to negotiate from a position of strength.
The war in Ukraine “will not end tomorrow or the day after tomorrow,” French President Emmanuel Macron said in his address to the French military. According to him, the West’s key task now is to “provide Ukraine with the means to survive and the ability to conduct future negotiations from a position of strength.”
The French president also stressed the importance of long-term security guarantees for Ukraine: “When the fighting stops, it will be necessary to guarantee that war will not return to Ukrainian territory.”
These measures, in his opinion, will become not only a guarantee for Kyiv, but also the basis for European stability. Macron stressed that Europe must eliminate military dependence on “other forces,” “when it comes to defending its territory.”
Citing the advantages of increasing French weapons production, the French president mentioned the weapons that have been sent to Ukraine, in particular CAESAR self-propelled howitzers and SAMP/T air defense systems.
