Latvia transfers 1,500 combat drones to Ukraine, and Poland has spent $86M on the purchase of Starlink terminals.


Latvia has sent another 1,500 combat drones to Ukraine; in total, two Latvian companies will deliver 12,000 drones in the first half of the year. The drones are being provided as part of the drone coalition led by Latvia and Britain. Riga supplied Kyiv with around 5,000 UAVs in 2024.
Additionally, Ukrainian Ambassador to Latvia Anatoliy Kutsevol stated during a briefing that an international drone coalition summit will be held in Riga on May 28. He also mentioned that Ukraine’s allies are showing increased interest in unmanned technologies and investment in this sector.
Meanwhile, Poland invested almost PLN 323M ($86M) in Starlink satellite terminals for Ukraine from 2022 to 2024 to provide communications for both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the civilian population. No new purchases are planned for 2025, but subscription fees will reach PLN 77M ($20M). Ukraine received 24,500 terminals from Poland, and an additional 5,100 were provided by various Polish organizations.
