Last year, UZ increased export transportation by 51.2% due to seaport operations.
During December 2024, Ukrainian Railways (UZ) transported 14.032 million tons of cargo by rail (+0.071 million tons, or +0.5% compared to November 2024 volumes). According to 2024’s results, 174.93 million tons were transported (+26.5 million tons, or +17.9% compared to 2023). This is the largest annual volume indicator for cargo transportation by rail during the period of martial law.
Last year, UZ transported a record amount of cement, 1.674 million tons. The export volume increased by 51.2%, to 84.67 million tons. The significant increase in export transportation is explained by the effective operation of the Ukrainian sea corridor and the Ukrainian economy’s recovery.
The structure of export transportation is dominated by grain cargo with 34.132 million tons (40.3% of total export volume). Iron and manganese ore is in second place, of which 33.001 million tons were transported (39%). Ferrous metals totaling 5.167 million tons were also transported (6.1%).
