Kyiv gave the US a list of targets in the Russian Federation for ATACMS strikes; the West should move to “supporting the victory of Ukraine.”
Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov confirmed that, during a meeting with high-ranking US officials, he handed over a list of objectives that Kyiv wants to target with American long-range ATACMS missiles. He gave his assurance that Ukraine will continue to insist on the lifting of these restrictions in order to protect Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
According to Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur, the fundamental problem with Western support for Ukraine is the need for a political decision on the support’s purpose. At the GLOBSEC conference in Prague, he emphasized that the West is not giving Ukraine what it needs because of this uncertainty.
“The key question that needs to be answered is whether we want Ukraine to fight or Ukraine to win. We lack a political decision that we want Ukraine to win. If we make this decision, then the next steps become clear.” Pevkur emphasized: “Ukraine knows what to do. The problem is the lack of money, weapons, and restrictions.”
