Japan will help Ukraine to restore infrastructure and the agricultural sector.
The Minister of Infrastructure, Oleksandr Kubrakov, met with the senior vice president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Naoki Ando. The parties discussed further cooperation within joint programs and projects to restore Ukraine’s damaged infrastructure. It is planned to implement several quick impact projects in Dnipro, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Kherson.
“This spring, JICA and Ukraine signed $600M in grant agreements. The goal is to use these funds to cover urgent needs in the restoration of transport, energy, waste management, water supply, and other areas of the economy. In the long term, our cooperation will contribute to the systematic restart of the economy and the return of Ukrainians home“, Kubrakov commented.
Officials of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy also met with the JICA delegation. Naoki Ando assured attendees that the Japanese government will help clear the land of mines and restore the agricultural sector.
