Japan and Luxembourg will cooperate with businesses and reconstruction of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi and representatives from Japanese companies. According to Shmyhal, Japan’s big business is interested in long-term cooperation with Ukraine.

“We already received $2.1B in macro-financial assistance from Japan and are continuing our collaboration,” Shmyhal added.

The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in housing reconstruction, guaranteeing global food security, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, and humanitarian demining. In turn, the Ministry of Digital Affairs reported that Ukraine and Japan are strengthening technological cooperation in reconstruction.

At the same time, Luxembourg is ready to join programs supporting small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine, developing green metallurgy, expanding entrepreneurs’ access to credit, and creating partnerships in financial technologies. The Minister of Economy of Luxembourg, Franz Fayot, announced his readiness to involve the European Investment Fund and the Fund for the Future of Luxembourg in supporting the private sector in Ukraine.
