Italy will give Ukraine long-range Storm Shadow missiles, and Germany will send the Frankenstein air defense system.
Italy will transfer long-range Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine as part of its ninth aid package, which Defense Minister Guido Crosetto will present to the parliament by the end of this month. The exact number of missiles that will be included in the future aid package is still unknown. The package will also include the previously promised second SAMP/T air defense system. Italy is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine and is allocating €140M for infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, the German arms concern Rheinmetall plans to transfer to Ukraine a new Frankenstein air defense system capable of shooting down missiles and drones. The installation consists of the latest German anti-aircraft gun, the Skyranger, mounted on the base of a Leopard 1 tank. Rheinmetall only recently developed the Skyranger system. It boasts sophisticated sensors with a 360-degree view of the battlefield, capable of dealing with swarms of drones.
