Instead of buying, businesses are selling agricultural land in Ukraine.
Ukrainian companies sold at least 1,283 hectares as of March 18, 2024. Since the beginning of 2024, at least 342 land plots have been sold. Since the land market was opened for legal entities, despite expectations, businesses have been selling land rather than buying it, states Opendatabot.
As a result of these land sales, 12 companies reduced their land holdings to less than 100 hectares, resulting in their removal from the land monitoring system.
Currently, there are three large landowners in Ukraine’s land market. The agricultural company Svitanok owns more than 5,000 hectares. In second place is Druzhkivske Rudoupravlinnya, with 3,300 hectares; in third place is Zemletreid, with 3,000 hectares. However, the latter company has sold almost 160 hectares of its land in the last three months.
Industry experts say that accurate conclusions about the participation of legal entities in the land market can only be made after 6-12 months of operation.
