In the first quarter, the Ukrainian land market’s capitalization increased by $5.1B.

KSE Agrocenter analysts stated that this was primarily due to the opening of the market to legal entities on January 1 of this year. It is noted that the former “moratorium lands” are in the greatest demand – for commodity agricultural production and personal subsistence farming.

In the first quarter, 25,700 agreements for the purchase and sale of agricultural plots with a total volume of 58,800 hectares were concluded. This is 7% higher than in the fourth quarter of 2023, which saw the highest number of transactions since the beginning of the war.

The weighted average price per hectare increased by 11,2%. In the fourth quarter of last year, it was ₴37,700 ($950,6), then in the first quarter of 2024, this price increased to ₴42,000 ($1,059) per hectare. As a result, the agricultural land market’s capitalization has increased by ₴202,5B ($5,1B) since the beginning of the current year.

In total, since the opening of the market in July 2021, 227,500 purchase and sale agreements have been concluded, with a total area of 510,800 hectares.
