In the current season, harvest indicators are significantly below last year’s level.

As of July 25, farmers had threshed 10.347 million tons of early grain and leguminous crops, compared to 7.226 million tons the week before. Notably, 7.088 million tons of wheat, 2.792 million tons of barley, and 412,400 tons of peas were harvested. The Odesa region leads in grain and leguminous crop harvesting, with 2.5 million tons gathered. As reported, by July 26 2024, Ukraine had harvested 22.324 million tons of the new crop, including 19 million tons of grain and over three million tons of oilseeds. During this period, 14.7 million tons of wheat were harvested.
According to analysts, sunflower production in Ukraine this year is not expected to exceed 13.6-13.7 million tons, which is only about 7% higher than in 2024. Experts point out that weather conditions continue to limit the potential for sunflower yields, especially in the south and east of the country, where up to 50% of the total oilseed area is located.
Cool spring weather, critically low soil moisture reserves in these regions, and insufficient precipitation have created challenging conditions for crop development. However, better sunflower yields are anticipated in the central, western, and northern areas of Ukraine, which may offset crop losses in the south and east.
