Immediately after his phone call with Trump, Putin launched the most powerful air strike on Kyiv to date.

President Zelenskyy described it as one of the largest-scale and most cynical strikes, with a total of 550 drones and rockets fired at Ukraine. The primary target was Kyiv, and Ukraine’s defense forces managed to shoot down 270 air targets, while electronic warfare tactics suppressed another 208 drones. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of partner support in ballistic defense, noting that Patriots and missiles are crucial defenders of life. Volunteers reported that approximately 20% of the Shahed drones were intercepted.
The attack resulted in two deaths, over 30 injuries, and extensive damage to infrastructure and businesses, including several branches and a sorting depot belonging to Nova Poshta, a Rozetka delivery point, and a warehouse of the Nash Format publishing house and online store.
The strike also caused a blackout at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, occupied by Russian forces, though Ukraine restored power.
DTEK equipment was damaged, two transformer substations destroyed, and both railway infrastructure and a fire rescue unit sustained damage.
