Germany doubles its defense aid to Ukraine.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Oleksiy Makeyev stated that the German government has allocated €8.3B for Ukrainian military aid in this year’s budget. “All previous government projects provided for €4B, and this amount was increased in parliament during the budget process. Now, €8.3B has been allocated for 2025, with €8.5B planned for 2026 and 2027,” the diplomat added. He emphasized that Germany has also eliminated its ceiling on defense spending and started purchasing Ukrainian weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine using the Danish model.
As well, Makeyev noted that Ukraine has ordered 18 IRIS-T SLM systems from Germany and has already received seven. Berlin, along with other European partners, is also working to supply Ukraine with five Patriot air defense systems, though Ukraine needs at least ten of these systems. Additionally, American-German Auterion will deliver 33,000 strike kits for AI-powered UAVs to Ukraine by the end of the year under a new Pentagon contract worth nearly $50M. This equipment transforms conventional drones into autonomous combat platforms.
