Germany continues to work on alternative routes for Ukrainian grain exports.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock voiced this at a joint press conference with her Romanian counterpart in Berlin on September 4. She sharply criticized the Russian President for blocking the grain deal and attacking port infrastructure in the Danube region.

The diplomat noted that the European solidarity corridors for grain export by rail, ship, and road are already lifelines for the global grain supply. The ports on the Danube have become critical nodes for the export of millions of tons of grain, but Russia wants to wipe them off the face of the earth with drones and bombs.

Baerbock also thanked Romania for its desire to double the export capacity of Ukrainian grain to four million tons per month by the end of the year.
