Germany will further increase its assistance to Ukraine, which is experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe due to Russian aggression, stated German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. He stressed his determination and confidence that “Putin should not win this war and he will not win it” because the world community stands together in terms of sanctions against Russia, strengthening its own defensive capabilities and solidarity with the Ukrainian people. One month ago, Berlin promised to provide €425M in humanitarian and development aid, as well as €70M in medical assistance to the EU’s civil protection mechanism. Moreover, an additional €430M has been provided to mitigate the catastrophic impact of the Russian war on world food security.
