German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced his readiness to discuss with Russian dictator Putin ways to resolve the military conflict in Ukraine.
According to him, another peace conference is needed, similar to the Swiss summit, but with the Russian Federation’s participation. The chancellor stressed that the time has come when, in addition to full support for Kyiv, Western countries must do everything possible to ensure that hostilities “will not last forever.” At the same time, Scholz noted that negotiations with Moscow should be coordinated with Germany’s closest allies, and decisions cannot be made behind Ukraine’s back.
Meanwhile, the opposition accuses Scholz of being afraid of Russia’s nuclear threats and calls for increased military support for Ukraine.
In turn, President Zelenskyy noted that in two years almost 100 countries have supported the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
“We held a successful inaugural Peace Summit and proved that this negotiation format can successfully end the war. But the Russian Federation is still avoiding honest diplomacy and is throwing ultimatums between bombs. We must stop this,” he stressed.
