German businesses contemplate their options as the suspension of military reservations threatens companies working in Ukraine.

The suspension of the reservation of Ukrainian workers, despite the millions of dollars invested by German companies to support Ukraine’s economy during the war, threatens the business community and the stability of strategically important industries: retail and manufacturing are currently suffering the greatest losses. The suspension of reservation processes and the chaotic delivery of summonses to employees who are already reserved from military duty are putting German companies in a critical position.

Several foreign corporations are already warning of the possibility of completely shutting down their operations. One German company operating in Ukraine is sounding the alarm about the mass mobilization of employees, who are being issued summonses despite valid reservations.

Reiner Perau, Chairman of the Board of the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, comments on the situation: “This decision may have irreversible consequences. The loss of key employees jeopardizes not only business but also the stability of the Ukrainian economy. The uninterrupted operation of companies that are critical to the functioning of the country is necessary to support both the defense sector and the stability of society as a whole.”
