France and Britain will present Trump with a plan for a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

Britain and France are developing a joint initiative to create a “deterrence force” in Ukraine after the end of hostilities. The plan is expected to be presented to Donald Trump in the coming weeks in an attempt to convince him to support security guarantees for Kyiv. London and Paris expect that Europe’s active participation in the post-war settlement will demonstrate the region’s determination to invest in Ukraine’s security, while stimulating US involvement, particularly in the areas of intelligence, border protection, and air support.

The coalition of the willing, includes Canada, Australia, Japan and New Zealand in addition to European countries. All participants have been asked to provide written commitments regarding their contribution by the end of next week. Fifteen countries have already offered to provide jets, ships, and other equipment, but the number of those who have agreed to send troops remains limited.

Only six countries out of 30 that comprise the coalition are ready to send their troops to Ukraine. These include Britain, France, and the Baltic states.
