Finland will provide Ukraine with ammunition sourced from frozen Russian assets, following a €90M agreement.

Finland has been selected as one of the implementing nations in an initiative in which the EU will aid Ukraine with defense resources derived from these frozen assets. Helsinki plans to acquire heavy ammunition from local manufacturers to send to Kyiv. The Finnish government has formalized a €90M contract with the European Commission for the supply of this ammunition, supported by funding from the European Peace Facility (EPF) using proceeds from the frozen assets.
“We successfully secured additional funding to assist Ukraine. The money will come from frozen Russian assets, with purchases made from Finnish companies to bolster our domestic industry while aiding Ukraine’s defense,” stated Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hakkänen.
He mentioned that the national support program for Ukraine totals €660M. This new agreement highlights the strengths of the Finnish defense sector, he noted, although specific details regarding the package’s contents or the delivery schedule remain undisclosed.
