Expensive logistics destroyed the profitability of grain production in Ukraine.
According to Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Taras Vysotskyi, logistics is the biggest challenge for the agricultural sector. It is too expensive to transport grain and makes the profitability of the production of farm crops either zero or close to zero. The ministry is working to solve the problem with the Coordination Council for Logistics. This week’s meeting was held with the participation of the Ukrainian Railways team to change the approach to the auctions for the sale of wagons tariffs. The deputy minister emphasized the extension of the grain initiative, and its expansion is also essential. He pointed out that this will remove the insurance risks embedded in the cost of the products and accordingly increase the selling price for the farmer.
