Europe will need to boost its weapons production by 400% to effectively deter Russia.

Analysts believe that despite investing billions, Europe must spend much more to strengthen its military power and reach parity with Russia. To achieve this, European weapons output would have to increase roughly fivefold to decisively shift the balance in Europe’s favor. Additionally, military strategy and technology are advancing rapidly. As a result, modernizing weapons and tactics while expanding current, effective systems is essential. Although European countries are investing significantly more in defense than three years ago, such increased spending may not necessarily enhance Europe’s military potential by 2030.
Europe’s production of artillery shells and howitzers has grown substantially and now nearly meets the requirements for reliable Russian deterrence. However, production of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, missiles, and combat aircraft is still well below what is needed. For example, tank and infantry fighting vehicle production must increase by 500%. To meet defense objectives, greater emphasis on innovations proven effective in Ukraine is also crucial.
