Europe Plus: The EU is preparing a ceasefire plan and laying the groundwork for a reconciliation between Zelenskyy and Trump.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other European leaders used a security summit in London to express support for Ukraine while also seeking to revive dialogue between President Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump. The meeting on March 2 was part of a broader diplomatic effort undertaken following a disagreement between these leaders that unfolded in the White House last week.
Britain and France are reportedly preparing to present a Europe Plus initiative to Trump in the coming days, which might involve non-EU countries including Canada. Starmer says these countries will collaborate with Ukraine on a ceasefire plan. Following that, the plan will be discussed with the United States, as not all members of Trump’s team are willing to abandon talks with Ukraine. Trump is adopting a more moderate stance than some of his advisers, who have advocated for Zelenskyy’s resignation.
European politicians are hopeful that a path to reviving the minerals deal still exists, as the Trump administration views it as a potential means to deter further Russian aggression.
