Europe is again backing down on sending troops to Ukraine, reversing its position.

Recently, Le Monde published an article stating that discussions had resumed in Europe about sending troops to Ukraine, primarily from the UK and France. Against this background, the British Foreign Secretary hastened to state that his country is not currently considering the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.

“There has long been a position that we are not sending British troops to the theater of operations. This is certainly the UK position, and it remains the UK position at this time,” the British diplomat said.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani made a similar statement. “We are helping Kyiv politically, financially, and militarily, but we will not send soldiers to fight in Ukraine,” he noted, adding that it is extremely important to avoid escalation at this time.

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur stressed that Ukraine needs money invested in its military industry, not foreign troops for a war against Russia. “The West needs to keep a cool and calm mind: we must react, but not overreact,” Pevkur noted.
