Effective waste management in Ukraine is not the norm for the local administrations who run our cities and regional centers. The country has thousands of tonnes of waste which blight the landscape and dirty the environment. Waste that can be recycled, and used for the production of energy. If one recycling plant in Zhytomyr can produce enough heat for 30% of the city’s capacity, this can be done in other regions. The Ukrainian economy needs to diversify and be less dependent on fossil fuels which are subject to price fluctuations and are not renewable. The only region which has embraced the idea of renewable energy is Odesa. A region where you can find wind farms, solar panel farms and waste processing plants.
