As Ukraine’s IT sector expands at a high speed becoming one of the most profitable sectors of the economy, Zelensky understands the importance of creating the right environment for business. Today most IT workers are comfortable paying 5% income tax, however, if this rate changes, then the outflow of specialists to neighboring countries might be irreversible. To counter any capital flight and brain drain, the government should consider a more holistic approach to startups and IT to retain talent, and encourage the workforce to be not transient, but long-term participants in the Ukrainian economy.
