The US is preoccupied with many other pressing issues, but for Ukraine this meeting is of vital importance. Its outcome is likely to affect Ukraine’s image and prospects internationally, and to affect the mood at home. Can Ukraine aspire to the type of strategic partnership agreement that it has managed to secure with Britain while it keeps knocking at NATO’s and the EU’s doors? We shall see.
