When Vladimir Putin rattled his chains outside of Ukraine in April, foreign investors who were toe-dipping decided not to take the plunge. In that light, credit goes to the much-maligned Rinat Akhmetov, owner of Metinvest Group. He is putting $1 billion on the line, only 30 km west of Russia-controlled Donetsk.
