DTEK Energy Holding plans to add 1.5 GW of green energy to Ukraine’s energy system within three years.

CEO of DTEK Maksym Timchenko said: “We have been discussing the need for distributed generation since the first months of the war. Our strategy involves investing in green generation. We plan to complete the second stage of the Tyligulska Wind Power plant with a capacity of 385 MW, investing €450M.”

He clarified that DTEK will continue the construction of the Tyligulska wind farm in May, and the company will also be ready to begin construction on the Poltava wind farm, which will have a capacity of 650 MW.

“Another 500 MW project in the Odesa region will be ready for construction in the second quarter of 2025. Accordingly, we can add 1,500 MW to the power system in three years,” he said.

According to Timchenko, the company will need debt financing to construct new capacities. However, commercial banks will not lend to Ukrainian companies without guarantees from export credit agencies. Because of this, companies are unable to build large SPPs or WPPs.
