Drone manufacturer Bayraktar launches plant construction near Kyiv, the US is doubling its ammunition production, and Ukraine will buy Swedish infantry fighting vehicles.
The Turkish defense company Baykar has started constructing a factory near Kyiv, where TB2 or TB3 drones will be manufactured, said the company’s director, Haluk Bayraktar. The facility’s production capacity will be about 120 units every year.
Douglas Bush, head of the procurement department of the US Army, said that the US military will double the production of the main ammunition used by Ukraine by October 2024. Production of 155mm shells should increase to 37,000 in April and to around 60,000 in October 2024. In 2025, production should rise to 75,000 in April and 100,000 in October.
This planned increase is possible in part due to the construction of a new plant in Texas. However, the ability to produce 100,000 rounds a month depends on whether Congress can overcome its political differences.
In turn, Ukraine and Sweden agreed on the transfer of a batch of CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.
