Despite record losses, Russia is trying to capture as much territory as possible before the frost.
The Defense Forces of Estonia noted the Russian invaders’ heightened offensive pace as Moscow attempts to seize as much territory as possible before the frost. The main fighting is concentrated on a narrow section in the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions, where more than 60% of combat occurs. Despite the high offensive pressure, the Ukrainian military’s defense remains organized, and the enemy is suffering heavy losses.
If the current pace of hostilities continues, Russia’s losses in November may be comparable to those in October. And they, according to the Ministry of Defense of Britain, reached their highest monthly total in October – 1,354 people per day. Overall, October became the deadliest month for the Russian invaders since the beginning of the full-scale war – 41,980 people. The previous record was recorded in May 2024, 39,110 people. In total, since February 24, 2022, Russian manpower losses amount to more than 696,000.
The ISW emphasized that the Russian military will not be able to indefinitely suffer significant human and material losses for the sake of victories with limited strategic value.
