Despite negotiations, Russia continues to strike Ukraine’s energy system, making Trump furious.


On March 7, Russia launched a massive assault on Ukraine, targeting energy and gas infrastructure facilities. Naftogaz of Ukraine reported damage to their gas production facilities from the attack, emphasizing that this marks the 17th coordinated attack on the company’s gas infrastructure.
On the same day and for the seventh time in three weeks, the enemy attacked the Odesa region’s energy system, hitting a DTEK energy facility. In the Poltava region, DTEK gas facilities suspended operations due to the enemy’s attack. The gas transportation network in the Ternopil region was also struck by two Russian missiles.
President Donald Trump is furious with Russia’s actions and the ongoing shelling of Ukraine while he insists on a ceasefire. On March 7, Trump threatened to increase pressure on the Kremlin to agree to a ceasefire and peace settlement.
Experts believe Russia is targeting Ukraine’s gas infrastructure in order to restore the transit of its gas to the EU.
According to RDNA4, by the end of 2024 losses to Ukraine’s energy sector from Russian attacks are expected to exceed $20B, and restoration will cost $70B.
