Danube ports need 150,000 tons of cargo monthly so as not to lose their developed potential.

Danube ports cannot compete for export cargo; if it is not possible to export goods through Odesa, the business will be reoriented to EU ports, the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) reported.

“The Danube needs a comprehensive plan based on the realities of the market, and not illusions that supposedly spot improvements will change the overall picture,” the UDP emphasized.

Thus, the “Danube rescue plan” should begin with forming a competitive logistics chain that will unite all logistics elements: railway, storage, transshipment, and fleet. Last year, cargo transportation through the Danube ports reached a record 3.2 million tons per month.

“At the moment, we are not talking about records. But we must determine the minimum volume that the Danube cluster needs to preserve the significant potential that was created thanks to the efforts of the state and business at the beginning of the war,” the state-owned enterprise emphasized, adding that for the UDP, this minimum is 150,000 tons per month.
