Czechia believes the mineral deal with the US will be part of Ukraine’s security guarantees.

Czech President Petr Pavel thinks that Ukraine’s security guarantees will consist of two components: a mineral agreement with the US and guarantees from European countries.
“If American businesses are present in Ukraine, we can expect the US to protect those interests,” he stated.
Another component of the guarantees is a coalition of the willing gathered from states that are able and are willing to send stabilizing military forces to Ukraine once a peace agreement has been established.
At the same time, Pavel does not consider Ukraine’s membership in NATO to be a part of these security guarantees, as US President Trump has rejected the possibility. However, he believes this issue should remain on the table.
“Politicians come and go. We may see a different perspective under a new administration,” Pavel concluded.
Trump, for his part, proposed that the US could supply Ukraine with more weapons if it gains access to its natural resources. However, the feasibility of such a plan is uncertain, as resource extraction will remain nearly impossible without a stable peace. The utilization of Ukraine’s natural resources will also rely on the outcome of the struggle for eastern Ukraine.
