By the wider measure of goods and services, Ukraine’s foreign trade eked out a small surplus during the first half.

Exports grew by 25.5%, to $35 billion, while imports rose by 28%, to $34.5 billion. Ukraine’s trade deficit with the EU dropped in half, to slightly less than $1 billion. Exports to EU nations were up 39%, to $13.4 billion, while imports rose by only 26.5%, to $14.3 billion.
