Businesses call for the restoration of Mykolaiv port operations and ensuring Kherson’s security to enhance export efficiency.

Ukrainian business has urged the government to reopen the Mykolaiv port and facilitate the evacuation of vessels that have been blocked since the onset of the full-scale invasion. Additionally, the EBA suggests restoring security at the Kherson port to initiate its restoration and reintegration into export processes.
It recommends strengthening the port infrastructure’s protection to ensure stable operations even under heightened security risks, as well as exploring safe demining options for certain areas of the Black Sea and agricultural lands in the region. The business community has implored the government to optimize sea export routes, particularly by allowing vessels to wait in the ports of the Odesa region rather than just at the entrance to the Sulina Canal.
These measures are anticipated to bolster Ukraine’s position in global markets by lowering logistics costs and insurance risks for shipowners, contributing to affordable food prices and effective exports.
