British special forces are ready to be deployed to Ukraine as peacekeepers.

British special forces have been put on standby to deploy to Ukraine as part of the UK peacekeeping mission as a ceasefire agreement “closes in.” Last week, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said plans to deploy peacekeepers to Ukraine had entered the “operational phase.”
Military experts say that while British special forces are not a traditional peacekeeping force, their ability to deploy quickly, as well as their experience in intelligence and surveillance, make them an ideal candidate to lead a coalition of the willing.
The UK is hoping that the US will provide drones and satellite surveillance to monitor the border zone between Ukraine and Russia if a ceasefire agreement is reached. US drones and satellites could create a buffer zone on both sides of the front line to prevent renewed fighting.
Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni calls plans to send European troops to Ukraine complex, risky, and ineffective. As an alternative, she suggests providing Ukraine with security guarantees similar to NATO’s Article 5.
