Britain is buying tens of thousands of shells for Ukraine, and Germany will deliver the promised IRIS-T air defense systems on time.

The British Ministry of Defense announced the signing of a £300M contract to purchase 152-mm shells for Ukraine. London plans to deliver 120,000 shells over the next 18 months, stimulating the development of Europe’s industrial capacity and ensuring reliable supply chains that will continue to provide Ukraine with vital ammunition.

In turn, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed an order for additional IRIS-T air defense systems for the Bundeswehr and the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Approximately 17 IRIS-T systems will be provided for Ukraine in addition to the seven that have already been delivered. Four will be shipped by the end of this year, and the rest next year. By 2026, Ukraine will receive 24 IRIS-T systems from Germany, 12 medium-range and 12 short-range.

In addition to air defense, Germany will transfer tanks, self-propelled artillery, and other military equipment to Ukraine by the end of the year. In total, Germany has pledged about $7.1B for military aid to Ukraine in 2024.
