Britain, France, Germany, and the US have removed all restrictions on the use of long-range weapons.

During the WDR Europaforum, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated: “There are no longer any restrictions on the use of long-range weapons supplied to Ukraine – neither by the British, nor by the French, nor by our side, nor by the Americans. This means that Ukraine can defend itself, for example, by attacking military positions on the territory of the Russian Federation. Before that, it could not do this.”

He noted that Ukraine, in contrast to the Russian Federation, exclusively uses long-range weapons to target military facilities, while Russian forces choose targets “absolutely recklessly, bombing cities, kindergartens, and hospitals.”

The chancellor remarked that the approval to utilize Western long-range weapons for strikes deep behind enemy lines greatly enhances the Ukrainian military’s capabilities.

Merz emphasized the importance of supplying Ukraine with these weapons. Ukraine anticipates Germany to supply 100-150 Taurus cruise missiles, which are comparable to the British-French Storm Shadow and Scalp systems. The Taurus missile is launched from fighter jets and can carry a 400-kilogram warhead over a distance exceeding 500 kilometers.
