Borrell calls for Ukraine to be allowed to strike military targets in the Russian Federation.

 EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell supports the lifting of all restrictions on Ukrainian strikes on military facilities inside the Russian Federation, as this will help to incline Putin to peace negotiations. The diplomat noted that the Ukrainian offensive operation in the Kursk region is a serious blow to Putin and his army. As well, lifting the ban on the use of Western weapons would allow Ukraine to strengthen its defense and deprive the enemy of the opportunity to destroy Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure, saving lives and reducing the scale of destruction. Borrell announced a meeting of the heads of the EU Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense, with Ukraine’s participation, next week to move forward in its support of Kyiv. Simultaneously, Ukraine Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov met in Kyiv with a bipartisan delegation from the US House of Representatives, stating: “I emphasized the need to quickly obtain permission from the allies for the full use of long-range weapons on targets on the territory of Russia.”
