Biden met with Congress members and discussed aid for Ukraine; they agreed to tackle the issue.
The leader of the Democratic majority in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, called the meeting at the White House with President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other Congressional leaders “one of the most intense” in his entire life. He emphasized that assistance to Ukraine is vitally essential for the US.
“We can’t afford to wait a month, two, or three. Because then we’re probably going to lose the war”, Schumer said.
He demands that House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, follow through on aid commitments to Ukraine, saying Democrats have a tough plan for border security.
Johnson, in turn, said that Congress “must take care of America’s needs first.” At the same time, he added that the House of Representatives is actively studying all possible options regarding the financing bill for Ukraine. And they will deal with this issue “in time.”
