Berlin is working on transferring Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, and Estonia is providing small arms.
The German chancellor’s office is coordinating with the US on the missile transfer issue. According to T-online, the German Air Force has already approved the transfer of the missiles, which have a range of over 500 km. At the same time, several sources in the Social Democratic Party of Germany confirmed that Germany wants to send new weapons systems to Ukraine only in conjunction with the US. Washington did not satisfy Ukraine’s requests to supply the similar ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles.
Today, the Bundeswehr has 600 Taurus units at its disposal. One hundred fifty are in working order; the rest can be returned to service by German industry. How many missiles Germany is ready to send to Ukraine is unknown.
Meanwhile, the Estonian government supported transferring 150 small arms and ammunition to Ukraine. Estonia has already provided various military support packages worth more than €400M, which is more than 1% of the country’s GDP.
