Belgium will allocate €150M to rebuild the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, and Japan is preparing another grant aid project for Ukraine.

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Belgian development agency Enabel signed memorandums of cooperation in the rebuilding of social and energy infrastructure in Kyiv and the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. Belgium plans to allocate €150M to reconstruct and renew education, health care, and energy infrastructure facilities.

At the same time, the Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori announced that the Japanese government is preparing another grant aid project for Ukraine, highlighting the importance of understanding the critical needs and challenges of Ukraine’s recovery.

The Ministry of Infrastructure noted that preparation for the heating season, investing in the energy system’s protection, ensuring access to safe drinking water, restoration of housing and damaged transport infrastructure, and implementation of energy-efficient measures are among Ukraine’s priority needs. The ambassador noted that the Japanese government will consider increasing and hastening the supply of necessary equipment to Ukraine for the heating season.
