Another blow to Russian aviation: Ukraine hits five Russian fighter jets in Crimea.

Ukraine’s Security Service struck an airfield in Saky, in annexed Crimea, overnight on Monday, targeting five fighter jets used by Russia for its regular attacks on Ukraine. The SBU stated that drones from its Special Operations Centre destroyed one SU-30SM aircraft, damaged another, and impacted three Su-24s while also striking the aviation weapons depot. One Su-30CM fighter jet was completely destroyed, and another was damaged, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said in a statement. Three Su-24 bombers and an ammunition depot at the Saky airfield were destroyed, and the drone strike “caused significant losses”, according to the SBU. Ukraine deploys drones to target military sites such as air defense units, military bases, airfields, ammunition depots, and military logistics inside Russia or in occupied territories. The Saky airbase plays a crucial role in Russia’s military operations in the Black Sea, its regular attacks on Ukraine, as well as in patrolling, radar surveillance, target guidance, and escorting long-range aircraft.
