Another 10 million Ukrainian refugees will flee to Europe if Putin wins the war.
The German government predicts that in the event of a victory by the Russian Federation in the war, the number of Ukrainian refugees will increase by 10 million, and Germany will be one of the most popular destination countries.
At the same time, it is noted that the German government, in its forecasts, assumes that Ukraine has the military and financial capabilities to support its defense and ensure economic stability until the end of 2024. But the situation has been complicated by the delay in aid from the US: since last fall, Congress has been unable to approve additional funding to support Ukraine.
Experts are calling on Western powers to significantly increase military aid, given the US’ hesitation in working to reduce the likelihood of the war spreading to NATO countries.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also believes that, to deter Russian aggression, it is necessary to continue to support Ukraine and invest in NATO’s military potential, as Russia is already preparing its economy for a long war.
