After Trump’s victory, Europe is preparing to ensure its security independently and will work with Washington to maintain support for Ukraine.

The EU must be united and closely coordinate its actions with Donald Trump’s imminent return to the White House, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said. They congratulated Trump on his victory but highlighted the challenges of his protectionist trade policies and isolationist rhetoric. “The EU must act with a united front,” Scholz said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, believes that after the elections in the US, Europe should immediately assume greater responsibility for its security, and Poland will become a leader in increasing the EU’s stability.

The Transatlantic Coordinator of the Federal Government of Germany, Michael Georg Link, noted that Berlin and Washington should work together to ensure that US aid to Ukraine does not decrease.

Predictably, following the election Hungarian leader Viktor Orban declared the need for a new European strategy toward Ukraine. According to him, the most challenging question is the fate of the $50B G7.
