A record amount of cargo was transported on the rivers of Ukraine.

River freight traffic in Ukraine reached 20.6 million tons in 2021, which is 30.3% more than in 2020 when 15.8 million tons of cargo were transported. In particular, the freight volume on the Dnieper increased by 27.7%, from 11.2 million tons in 2020 to 14.4 million tons in 2021. The river mainly transported construction materials, grain, and metal products. Freight traffic on the Danube increased by 35.8%. Last year, it amounted to 5.5 million tons compared to 4.1 million tons a year earlier. According to the center of transport strategy, the main cargoes were ore, grain, and metal products.
