A Polish container rail transport operator is expanding its business in Ukraine and searching for a location to construct a terminal.
Polish logistics company Laude Smart Intermodal from Toruń, which controls 33% of the container rail transport market in Ukraine, is preparing a large-scale expansion of its activities. Despite the war risks, the company has developed innovative containers and plans to build a new terminal. The company has been operating in Ukraine since 2013 and has offices in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Vinnytsia.
It’s Ukrainian business generates 20-40% of the company’s revenues. In 2022, the company lost about 500 containers and 250 platforms in Mariupol after the Russian capture of Azovstal. Now, it has 1,500 platforms and 3,500 containers in Ukraine; some of these were moved from the Russian Federation, and some were rented from the Baltic countries.
Laude is preparing several strategic projects in Ukraine. It plans to start transporting gas and fuel and is also looking for a location for a new transshipment terminal in the center of Ukraine.
