A European donor funds control service will operate in Ukraine.
The European Anti-Fraud Coordination Service (AFCOS) will be deployed to monitor the use of money from international donors, said the head of the State Audit Service, Alla Basalayeva.
“We will move to a large-scale system that will keep statistics of violations and analyze where problems may arise. This will be done not to look for where the money went, but to prevent any negative phenomena in advance,” she clarified.
The service will work within the budget of the EU, namely the €50B Ukraine Facility multi-year financing program for 2021-2027. It is planned to entrust the State Audit Service with controlling the costs of this program.
According to the official, the State Audit Service already has cooperation experience with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), which monitors the use of EU funds. It is noted that the draft regulation governing the Ukraine Facility has already passed the first reading in the European Parliament.
