A coalition of the willing: Britain and France are preparing a plan to end the war in Ukraine and achieve long-term peace.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that Great Britain and France will lead a “coalition of the willing” and work together with Kyiv and its allies to present a plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and provide security guarantees to Washington.

“I understand very clearly that if there is an agreement, then that agreement must be defended, because the worst outcome of all will be that after a temporary pause, Putin will strike again,” Starmer stressed.

Russia has already violated the ceasefire, so ensuring that this is a long-term agreement and not just a temporary pause is essential. Therefore, he believes the US must provide security guarantees if Europe agrees to initiate a peacekeeping operation in Ukraine.

French President Emmanuel Macron noted that Europe’s security is at stake as Putin could advance into Moldova and possibly Romania if he is not stopped. EU leaders will gather at a special summit on March 6 to discuss appointing a special envoy to represent the bloc in talks to end the war in Ukraine.
